Achievement Categories

Chief Executive Leadership Award

This award recognizes a District II member institution head, president, chancellor or system head, or other campus CEO for outstanding efforts in promoting the understanding and support of education. Nominees must demonstrate the ability to create vision and inspire others; establish a positive image of his/her institution's stature in the community; and encourage innovations and risk-taking among employees. The nominee also must be known as an active and supportive participant in significant advancement efforts.

Criteria: To nominate a candidate, submit the following:

  • A letter describing the nominee's qualifications.
  • The nominee's professional and related vita.
  • Three supporting letters from other persons endorsing the nomination.

Entry materials for any one nomination should not exceed 20 pages. Remember to include a copy of the Achievement Awards Nomination Form.

Professional of the Year Award

This award recognizes a District II institutional advancement professional who has demonstrated exceptional achievement in the development of an institutional advancement program or innovative execution of programs within an area of advancement; contributed to the profession through work with CASE; and volunteered in service to the community or charitable organizations.

Criteria: Please submit a letter of nomination that provides a brief biographical summary highlighting the nominee's contributions in the following areas:

  • The innovative execution of programs within any area of institutional advancement: communications (public relations, media relations, publications, and others), alumni relations or philanthropy (fundraising, advancement services, and others). List significant or outstanding achievements.
  • Contributions to the development of our profession through with work CASE DII and/or CASE International.
  • Volunteer service to his/her community and charitable organizations.

Entry materials for any one nomination should not exceed five pages. Remember to include a copy of the Achievement Awards Nomination Form.

Robert L. Payton Award for Voluntary Service

Given annually to an individual who demonstrates leadership in advancement programs, furtherance of the philanthropic tradition, and public articulation of needs, goals, and issues in education. Criteria: Please submit a letter of nomination that provides a brief biographical summary highlighting the nominee’s contributions in the following areas:

  • Leadership in advancement programs within any area of institutional advancement: communications (public relations, media relations, publications, and others), alumni relations or philanthropy (fundraising, advancement services, and others). List significant or outstanding achievements.
  • Furtherance of the philanthropic tradition, spirit of volunteer service, or financial commitment.
  • Public articulation of the needs, goals, and current issues in higher education.

Entry materials for any one nomination should not exceed five pages. Remember to include a copy of the Achievement Awards Nomination Form.

Rising Star Award

This award recognizes a young professional who demonstrates the potential for leadership in advancement programs, enthusiasm for and commitment to the advancement profession, and understanding of the needs and goals of the philanthropic tradition.

Criteria: Please submit a letter of nomination that provides a summary highlighting the nominee's contributions in the following areas:

  • Demonstrates potential for leadership within any area of institutional advancement: communications (public relations, media relations, publications, and others), alumni relations or philanthropy (fundraising, advancement services, and others).
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment for institutional advancement through the responsibilities of his/her position, working with volunteers, and participates in areas of responsibility, including volunteer activities.
  • Understands the needs and goals of the philanthropic tradition.

Entry materials for any one nomination should not exceed five pages. Remember to include a copy of the Achievement Awards Nomination Form.

Quarter Century Award

The Quarter Century Award is presented to individuals with 25 years of service in recognition of their contributions to the advancement profession. It will be presented to all nominees.

Criteria: Please submit a letter of nomination that provides a brief biographical summary and an outline of career background including names of institutions and titles. Service can be in any advancement area.

Entry materials for any one nomination should not exceed five pages. Remember to include a copy of the Achievement Awards Nomination Form.

Retirement Recognition Award

The Retirement Recognition Award is presented to individuals who are about to retire, or who have retired, in 2009-2010. The award is based on length of service with the last 10 or more years in the field (Recognition Award) or 25 or more years (Lifetime Service Award), outstanding leadership in advancement programs, and other activities that may add to this level of recognition.

Criteria: Please submit a letter of nomination that provides a brief biographical summary and specific evidence of contributions to the advancement profession.

Entry materials for any one nomination should not exceed five pages. Remember to include a copy of the Achievement Awards Nomination Form.
